After His Impressive Start, COT Challenge Awaits Mark Martin In Phoenix
Phoenix, AZ (AHN) - Mark Martin has been on a roll this season and has been the talk of the NASCAR world. The 48-year-old will be opening a new chapter in his career this weekend in Batesville, Arkansas. It's time for Mark to meet the future, the Car of Tomorrow.
Mark Martin sat out at Bristol and Martinsville, since those are not his favorite tracks on the circuit, in late March and early April of 2007. Lately, it doesn't matter what kind of car you bring to the race track as long as Ginn Racing owns it, Mark Martin has the ability to go toward the front with it.
"To be able to drive these cars for this team is a dream come true. And to be able to step away when I want to, I just could not imagine having that kind of privilege," Mark Martin said.
Now, the schedule heads to Phoenix and Mark Martin is no stranger to success at the flat one-mile-oval.
Mark Martin has one victory, eight top fives and 14 top tens in 21 starts at PIR. What is also noteworthy is that Mark Martin's average start at Phoenix is an 11.9, but his average finish is an outstanding 9.2.
Mark's current stats of 2007 have been pretty amazing as well. Mark Martin has finished in the top ten in all five races in which he has competed. Four of those are top fives and of course he lost the Daytona 500 this year by inches.
"This team is just awesome -- they are the best I've ever worked with," Mark Martin said.
If that is the case, Mark Martin and the No.01 Army Chevrolet will be driving into a victory lane celebration fairly soon. And whether the COT fits his style or not remains a mystery and will stay that way until the weekend concludes in Phoenix.
